Overview

Tsinglan is a full-time international school located right in Songshan Lake Park in the north of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. With extraordinary sceneries, our school is fully equipped with world-class facilities for students’ academic and athletic development.

Tsinglan aims to be a leading center for the education of the brightest young people of China and of the wider region, preparing them to move on to the foremost universities of the world. The curriculum applied in Tsinglan is Tsinghua University High School International Curriculum, which integrates Chinese and Western educational philosophies, local and international education essence, with heritages of traditional Chinese ethos and Tsinghua characteristics.

We provide education to students from kindergarten to grade 12. From kindergarten to primary school, students immerse in a Chinese-English bilingual environment. From junior high to senior high school, students will gradually transit to English-only instructions.

Job Description:

Academics

  • Understand well and support Tsinglan School’s mission, vision and core values, and can lead the school in its continued integration of U.S. progressive education with Chinese influences.
  • Promote the academic vision and values that the highest achievements are expected from all members of the academy community.
  • Promote and model student-centered teaching, inquiry and project based learning, and a focus on learners’ outcomes in and outside classrooms.
  • Support Tsinglan’s curricula and can lead the continued development therein.
  • Lead and/or participate in professional development activities that match identified faculty needs, including weekly teacher development times and subject development times.
  • Develop and implement effective and innovative systems of teacher evaluation.
  • Observe faculty teaching and hold follow-up conversations with about these observations on a regular basis.
  • Help young teachers grow and develop systematically, both encouraging young teachers and holding them accountable.
  • Help design experiential learning opportunities for students for local field trips and domestic/international travels.
  • Organize and/or lead the weekly school assemblies for students.
  • Help students manage their behavior effectively.
  • Involve students in decision-making processes by developing policies and practices that treat students as partners in the learning process.

Management

  • Model and develop effective team working practices.
  • Develop effective procedures for staff evaluation including setting objectives and individual personal development plans and providing frequent feedbacks.
  • Ensure an aspirational and motivational culture is developed, sustained and celebrated, a culture that is both accountable and supportive.
  • Be able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Participate actively in administrative, faculty, parent, accreditation meetings, etc.

Parent & Community

  • Maintain positive, informative, and emphatic relationships with parents.
  • Lead and/or participate in parent meetings and programs.
  • Organize parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
  • Assist with admissions and marketing activities and assessments.

Hiring

  • Participate in the interviewing and hiring of new faculty and staff.
  • Assist with new faculty and staff’s onboarding and training at Tsinglan.

Essential Requirements:

  • Native English speaker;
  • Master’s degree required;
  • At least five years teaching experience at the secondary school level in U.S., Canadian, or international schools;
  • At least three years senior leadership experience at the secondary school level in U.S., Canadian, or international schools working with faculty, students, parents, and other community members in multiple roles;
  • Show evidence of having made significant contributions to whole school academic/management /improvement program within the last 5 years;
  • It is preferred that the applicants will be aspiring to headship and will have completed, or be studying for, a higher degree in educational leadership at a reputable institution;
  • Strong and inspirational leadership skills;
  • Knowledge of current education trends and developments;
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written);
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to motivate staff and students;
  • Ability to work as a member of a team;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Good with technology and information management skills.

Job Description

  1. To promote and enhance the learning process for students through an integration of academic, personal/social, and post-secondary development
  2. To contribute to and/or manage the School Counselling Program
  3. To counsel students regarding educational issues such as course and program selection, class scheduling, school adjustment, truancy, study habits, and college/career planning
  4. To counsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, or behavioural problems affecting their educational or vocational situations
  5. To deliver counselling services through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counselling
  6. To analyse data and use results to inform stakeholders and continuously improve programs

 

Essential Requirements:

  1. Native English speaker with excellent verbal and written English language skills
  2. Master’s degree in school counselling, psychology or related field
  3. A valid Special Service Provider License preferred
  4. Counsellor Degree or Counsellor K-12
  5. Previous High School counselling experience preferred.
  6. An effective communicator
  7. Strong working knowledge of an international curriculum
  8. Energy, enthusiasm and a sense of humour

Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher

Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher

Kindergarten Students, aged 5-6

Job Description

  1. To be responsible as a kindergarten homeroom teacher
  2. To implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students and to support a designated curriculum area as appropriate
  3. To participate actively in curriculum writing
  4. To be involved with other aspects of school life associated with the subject, such as organising appropriate educational trips and visits
  5. To assist the department with developing Schemes of Work, department development plan and implementation
  6. To play a full role in the active life of the school life and running of this international school
  7. To be responsible for your classroom and to encourage and support the use of ICT in lessons and monitor your classes’ work and assessment grades and keep student achievement records
  8. To take intervention actions when assessment and report grades identify a cause of concern regarding a students’ progress in your class
  9. To support and work collegiately with other members of the department
  10. To write reports and enter assessment grades when required
  11. To take an interest in all students in your classes and assist the department with preparation of up to date student class lists when requested
  12. To support and work with the administrative support staff where appropriate
  13. To assist the department with the analysis of examination results when requested and to seek out and share teaching resources with colleagues
  14. To attend parents’ meetings and other school events as directed by the management
  15. To offer at least one extra-curricular activity to the students and be committed to the ideal of a holistic education for all
  16. To assist with any other duties, tasks or jobs as may be reasonably requested by the management
